In rural Nepal, many families cannot afford to send their children to school—and the schools themselves are often badly in need of repair. ETC works to create school environments that foster learning, and to provide teachers with essential training and resources. Your support will help ETC: Provide scholarships to the children of poor and marginalized communities; establish kindergarten classes and other pre-primary education programs; improve a school’s physical plant; and train teachers in age-appropriate and creative pedagogy.

ETC’s programs help rural Nepali women build the capacity to improve their own lives, claim a space in the public sphere, and create positive change in their communities. For ETC, women’s groups are the heart of social change. Beginning with basic literacy classes, participants form close bonds that strengthen as women learn about and celebrate their rights. Over time, groups merge to form cooperatives that, supported by ETC training, take on the work of development. New leaders and new organizations are born, fueling economic growth and community well-being long after ETC’s formal work in the region is complete.

A Women's Group Sponsorship also helps Educate the Children provide an educational scholarship to one daughter of each women's group member. As a sponsor you will recieve photographs and updates on the women's group you sponsor, along with the opportunity to correspond with them.
